Primary Care on the agenda later this month

NHS Bury Clinical Commissioning Group’s (CCG) next routine Primary Care Commissioning Committee meeting is taking place later this month, and members of the public are invited to come along to observe and ask questions.

The Primary Care Commissioning Committee oversees the work of the CCG in relation to the commissioning of Primary Care services, such as GP services.

The next meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 22nd February 2017, starting at 12 noon, at Townside Primary Care Centre, Knowsley Place in Bury (5th floor).

Regular items on the agenda include finance and quality, as well as enhanced  schemes to improve the quality of local services including the provision of GP Practice appointments available during the evening and weekends.

Additional items this month include a focus on optometry services, highlighting the important and extensive role optometrists play, and to discuss how we might be able to do things differently in Bury by working more closely in the delivery of care in the future.

In addition, the Committee will be talking about the Productive General Practice Programme, this is a national programme which aims to support GP Practices to work more efficiently, effectively, and to reduce the burden of administrative process to benefit patients and staff alike.  The Committee will hear about some new and innovative ways of working that are emerging from the programme in Bury.

Public questions relating to agenda items being discussed are welcome.  These should be submitted in advance to allow sufficient time for the question to be picked up and processed in advance of the meeting.

Question forms are available on the CCG’s website (www.buryccg.nhs.uk) under ‘Your local NHS’, and paper copies can be obtained by contacting the CCG by telephone on 0161 762 3189 or by email at buccg.corporateoffice@nhs.net

Peter Bury, Chair of the Primary Care Commissioning Committee for NHS Bury CCG said: “Our meetings in public provide a great opportunity for local people to come along and find out more about what we do.  At this meeting we will be hearing about some innovative work happening in GP Practices in Bury, to maximise their resources and to work more efficiently.  We will also be learning more about the work of colleagues working in optometry services, and how we might be able to do things differently in the future by forging closer links.  We regularly welcome members of the public to our meetings and I would encourage anyone who would like to find out more to come along.”

Anyone unable to attend in person can follow the meeting online live on Twitter at @NHSBuryCCG

The agenda and papers for the meeting will be available on the ‘Your local NHS’ section of the CCG website in advance of the meeting.
