Interact with your local NHS

A new informal, informative blog has been launched by clinicians to keep local people posted on topical health issues.

NHS Bury Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has launched its new online blog as part of its commitment to engage with local people in as many ways as possible.

The regular blog will aim to offer a behind-the-scenes look at life at NHS Bury CCG, which plans and purchases a range of health services for local people.  It will highlight key local news, achievements and challenges, as well as a local slant on national or topical issues.

Dr. Kiran Patel, Chair and Clinical Lead for NHS Bury CCG said: “We are always keen to look at new ways of communicating and engaging with local people, of course we’ll still continue to hold public meetings and use more traditional methods of reaching out, but we are also keen to embrace technology to share details of our work whilst encouraging people to get involved.”

“Through our new blog we will offer a candid reflection on our efforts to improve health services, we will talk about the challenges we face, what is going well and our future plans.  We are going to tap into the knowledge of a number of doctors and nurses here at the CCG, to help keep the topics fresh and interesting, and we encourage people to comment, pose questions, share ideas and take part in discussions.”

Issue one of the CCG’s blog is available now via the CCG’s website www.buryccg.nhs.uk (News and media centre, CCG blog) – Dr. Kiran Patel, Chair and Clinical Lead talks about planning for the winter months, the importance of flu vaccination, the Healthy Minds service and opportunities to get involved in work of the CCG.

You can also keep up to date on the work of NHS Bury CCG via the website (above) or Twitter feed @NHSBuryCCG where future blogs will be promoted.
